Hey, I'm Omar from UnInbox and today I'm very sad to announce that UnInbox is going into Community Maintenance Mode.

What does “Community Maintenance Mode” mean?

What this means is that effective from today, there will be no salaried people, full-time people, working on UnInbox.

We will fall back to our open-source nature and rely on the open-source community for contributions and additional features that users may want or expect.

What will happen to the service and users?

The service located at UnInbox.com, where users can sign up for a free email address or use their custom domain, will continue to remain active.

This is a pledge that I made very early on in the life of UnInbox, that I will do everything within my power to ensure that the service continues to run no matter what happens to the business or the project.

We will continue to fix and address any upcoming or incoming security issues and any major bugs, and we will, over time, at a much, much slower cadence, still release new features and new updates for UnInbox.

What will happen to the team?

With regards to the team, I have personally been full-time on UnInbox for over a year now.

Rahul joined towards the end of last year, and over the last few months we've added more and more people to the team.

The majority of people on the team were unsalaried or were payment deferred.

This means that we owe money to people who may have done work for us, but at the same time there are many people who put in many hours of work, such as myself or other people on the team, who did not receive a single penny of salary.

We hope that over time we can find a way to repay them in kind, but for now the whole team has been disbanded, and we will continue to stay in communication and keep an eye on the project, and may come back together for something later on.

What will updates look like?
